ABSTRACT

The Use of Next Generation Design of Experiments Software for Discovery and Scale-Up

The rise of Agile Development, Theory of Constraints, Complexity Science and Expert Systems have shown how flexibility and speed (rate of adaptability) rather than rigidity are the best ways to deal with a constantly changing environment. Quantisweb has taken the relatively rigid rules of Design of Experiments (DOE) and reworked the math, added Decision Theory (DT), Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and optimization in order to deliver an adaptive means for experimenters to minimize the number of experimental trials and maximize the speed to market. With a system capable of taking 200 variables (continuous, discrete and nominal), 100 properties and any number of constraints (ingredient or process) simultaneously there is room for process and formulation variables. This type of adaptability lends itself well to discovering new thermoplastic elastomers and successfully scaling them up.
